I've been watchin' I've been waitin' [even tho' NOT all my life] - thanks Rasmus! College daze days rock! \m/
Behold! Axat the Marveler is here to wax eloquent about the seventh episode of Daredevil - Born Again! Do you know what ars gratia artis means? It means art for art's sake, in Latin. On that note, if you have recently posted a Ghibli-style, unintelligently, artificially generated image, do you know what Studio Ghibli has stood for, over 4 decades?
Nature. Connectedness with it. Co-existence with it. Not overcoming it. Not treating it like a foe. Welcoming it. Embracing it with innate love.
But that's not what Daredevil is about. New York City is the blueprint of what an artificial city is. Which is why the episode title is so poignant.
This episode starts SLOW. REAL SLOW. Matt Murdock relaxes a bit after rescuing the young White Tiger from the bloodthirsty Muse serial killer. Kingpin wants revenge on Daredevil for busting up his crime operations.
Involuntary commitment is something that doesn't sit well with Indian audiences, otherwise our woefully underequipped and understaffed mental health institutions would be bursting to the seams, seriously.
A foreshadowing from a previous episode comes to fruition, with a person seeking help from Matt Murdock's current flame revealing himself to be Muse, and Daredevil has to race against time, like the Batman had to do in The Dark Knight to save Rachel from The Joker.
It's a predictable episode, so I hope the next one will be better, yeah? We all know Vanessa the Missus Fisk will not betray Wilson The Big Mister Kingpin. At least, not in the casual way a dunderhead wannabe gangster thinks he can kill Kingpin and get away with it, The Sopranos style. I'm surprised at myself that I have not made a Sopranos review video yet, but then again, I think Six Feet Under is much better as a serial story.
What do you think about Daredevil's latest iteration, Marvel in general, and Life, the Universe, and Anything? Share your comments! Excelsior!
