Bazinga! A big hello to my fellow sheldors, and even if you don’t get that reference, welcome to my review of the third episode of the seventh season of young sheldon, the awesomax spin off of the big bang theory. This episode is called A Strudel and A Hot American Boy Toy, and right away you can tell that it is going to be a juxtaposition of German and American situations. All set? Let’s get right into it! Also, it would be awesomax if you could smash that sub button!
This episode is constructed in an epistolary way. That is a big fancy word for letter writing. If you want to read a book written like that, I recommend my good friend Sachin Garg’s latest book. Sheldon’s fascination with trains leads him to explore Germany’s legen - WAIT FOR IT - dary transit system, but very uncharacteristically behind his mother’s back.
Back home, deep in the heart of texas, the tornado has left many lives in disarray, with George Senior, George Junior, his wife Mandy, their baby CeeCee, Sheldon’s sister Missy, and MeeMaw Connie all living under one roof. MeeMaw is also staying with cranky geezer Dale, but living together is taking some getting used to, to put it mildly. Dale has got his incessantly repetitive guitar playing, while MeeMaw is a snorer.
As for Sheldon roaming the European countryside, he inevitably runs into trouble - and a wrought iron gate while he is trying to get back on the train from which he got off to get a strudel. See, that is where India is better - you don’t need to get off the train to get food. Although, to be fair, at some stations, you have to get off if you want a famous snack. I have done so myself on numerous occasions, and never have I ever been left behind as my train left. In fact, I have even managed to go out of the entire train station to buy something from the shop opposite, and made it back in time fast enough. In that one instance, I was helped by my friend’s knowledge of the market, and the exact length of time for which the train would stop. Just goes to show that if you plan well, you can achieve seemingly impossible goals.
Of course, life is also unpredictable, so no matter how much you plan, Murphy’s Law can kick in anytime. Something or the other can go wrong at the worst possible time. But let us not dwell on philosophy now. Instead, we can safely say that all’s well that ends well, in the context of this episode of Young Sheldon.
MeeMaw and Dale find practical ways to overcome their mutual problems, Sheldon gets mauled by a little weiner dog like Leonardo DiCaprio got mauled by a bear in Revenant, and George Senior thinks he is being a cool dad even though he is getting misled by Missy.
That’s all for this episode, check out my previous episode reviews and lots more fun stuff that we do! Don’t forget to smash that sub button and ring-a-ding that notification bell. Thanks for watching, and wherever / whenever you are, please do take care, stay safe, and be kind!
